Before I Leave

By

If you ever get the chance to meet me

Greet me,

Do not ask why I am me so freely

Why I am so nonchalantly breathing

Do you really see me?

Or do you see who you want to see?

Tell me who you thought I would be

Just know, it was never me

No matter how hard you try, I will never be

You will never reach the top with me

Because you never knew a soul so steep

Most retreat, but I am not a retreat

I am a challenge that most cannot beat

An experience that will leave you beat

But, you have the wrong idea already

I am also your stress relief

A teacher and a student, whatever you need me to be

Confide in me

Show me what makes you bleed

I am your bandage healing you spiritually

I will wipe your slate clean

Tirelessly working to prove your dreams

I am a challenge because I am challenging thee

The day is never over, even when you leave

On the other side of town, you will still feel me

The food you eat will never taste as good as me

Walk to me

My heart will sweep you off your feet

With me, there are infinite alternate realities

Drown with me

Then float to heaven with me

We will find a planet and live happily

One day, I will wake up and leave

First, I will kiss you on your wet cheeks

Reassure you that you never needed me

For you needed your soul cleaned

A purpose to spark your dreams

You needed a force that could set you free

Now, you believe!

The mission is complete

I am on the way to my next journey
