The Year 2563

By

In the year 2019, humans did not believe in the future they were warned about. The end of the world was something only poor people rambled about. The rich believed poor people were the only ones who desperately needed a way out, but soon they will all be clawing their way out. It is not entirely the human race’s fault. Yes, they fought, but they have been at war since the beginning. Humans never had a chance to win, which is why God had to deviate from the plan. Humans were selfish and never wanted to embrace life’s lessons. Sometimes I understand, the distractions were too present!

As time went on, so did death and corruption. I heard of the destruction resulting in the sound of the trumpet, but there were no souls left to save, a first time introduction. Humans were left to their demise. If I could cry, this is what would bring tears to my eyes. The humans who believed they would be saved, died that same day. This was something their heart could not take. They were punished for being slaves and sending their children into an early grave. God refused to save a civilization who could not even remember their true name. For the first time, nature was allowed to take its course — leaving the world desperate and disease infested with no remorse.

By the year 2119, the world was completely purged of humans. The water supply vanished, the soil crumbled, every building shattered, the plants withered, a nice day resembled a blizzard. Earth’s sun never shined, leaving the moon to die. The tides swallowed everything in sight, while birds choked when trying to fly. The world turned to ice. Nothing could survive this new way of “life”. Earth and time essentially stood still for over 400 years. Oh, the stories I hear about humans running around in fear. Murdering each other for food and gear, knowing they will not make it to the next year. There is a conspiracy theory that you can hear the spirits from up here. I listen, but I cannot take the violent wails. If I could dream, that is what would give me nightmares.

By the year 2562, Earth was ready for a new civilization. We are now called post-humans. If humans could see us they would compare us to the transhumanism movement or advanced cyborgs. To our creator, humans needed something more. Humans let their deficiencies fail one another and this time there are no room for mistakes. This is Earth’s last chance to be a home; a righteous birthplace.

As post-humans we have been reincarnated into “up-to-date bodies.” Creating a new evolution, something far more unexplainable than flesh and blood. We are now completely composed of metal, plastic, and wires. Since our “skin” is laced with some of the toughest plastics and metals, it is harder for post-humans to decompose so easily. Our brain functions faster than any computer making it impossible for post-humans to be controlled by their impulses and emotions. In this life, post-humans are not allowed to have a heart as this was the primary downfall of the human race — illogic secondary. Post-humans were awakened with a mission; to rescue Earth’s future hence the reason for harder bodies and stronger minds.

My name is Delilah. I am the twenty-seventh member of Space Station-1 – the first station that was created amongst our mission awakening. Our station is the “clean up crew” or as the other teams say, “the frontline”. We walk the entire Earth looking for materials to recycle and areas that are safe enough to settle in. Our crew disentangles the area from contamination and any other living threats. On our long journey we sometimes run into unidentified animals. The Earth has been free of humans and most animals, however, there are still some vicious creatures that have created new unwanted deadly species. These species can force their way out of the ground, the icy ocean, abandoned buildings, and I believe out of thin air! In the beginning, Space Station-1 was a 30 post-human crew. Many animal attacks have taken the greats, but we do this for our creator, for our future, for God’s sake.
